Ike… as in HURRICANE!

Filed under: That random stuff — DonnaB at 9:20 pm on Friday, September 12, 2008

Well, it appears Ike could send some nasty weather my way. Our forecast (for now anyway):

A tropical storm wind watch and flash flood watch remains in effect from tomorrow morning through Sunday.

As Ike moves north, sustained winds from 35 to 45 mph will occur for several hours with wind gusts up to 55 mph possible. This may result in power outages and damage to some structures and outdoor property. Storm total rainfall amounts from 2 to 4 inches with isolated higher amounts will be possible. Isolated tornadoes are possible within the stronger squalls of the outer rain bands.

At least we’re not having to evacuate our homes. We were in the next town over tonight grocery shopping and all the local motels are full as well as the restaurants. If you pray, please send good thoughts that these displaced people will have homes to return to.

I’m the challenger this week and the odd shaped piece below was what I furnished for my friends to play with.

Challenge 309 is the crown that I duplicated and made into the candle holder. We were to use the crown and have pink or shades of pink in the finished images. Many of the “things” in the image were previous challenges.

Six Down, Three To Go

Filed under: Photos — DonnaB at 7:51 pm on Sunday, September 7, 2008

Remember the puppies? We took six of them, making sure to take all the females, to the flea market around lunch today and in a little more than two hours, we had given them away. Thank the powers that be, it was a blessing to see them go to families with children with the exception of one. She went to a couple and that’s just fine by me too. In hindsight, we should have taken all nine, but we didn’t really have a carrier to take that many as the six were piled on each other anyway, but knowing what I know now… we could have given them away too! We’ll try again next weekend with the last three.

And Mama Sandy? She will never again in her lifetime have to deal with this!

Puzzle Challenge

Thank goodness! I am happy to report I’ve finally felt a creative streak emerge after this long dry spell of barely participating with my favorite group. I can get lost in these things. Seriously, I stayed up one night this week until nearly 1 a.m. playing before I realized how late it was getting.

We were furnished with puzzle pieces we could use in any way we wished. I created an egg stand and then made a puzzle for the second image for Challenge 308.

She’s Tough, yet still a Lady

I LIKE Sarah Palin, I like her a lot!

I just finished watching her speech at the Convention. I believe she is the perfect choice for vice-president. She represents real families with real issues and is not afraid to tackle the good ol’ boys! No one could know how important our troops are than a Mother of one and her son, Track, is just that. She is interesting, intelligent and I thought she hit a homerun tonight. I can truthfully say I feel much better about the Republican ticket with her aboard.

Yes, the political stuff is going on here again this week. I’m liking this one much better even though McCain was not my candidate of choice. I will admit Sarah Palin has my attention! My guy didn’t make it this far into the race, but I’ll vote and earn the right to say anything I want about the powers that be making decisions for you and me.

I received an email last week about the courageous women who were jailed and tortured all because they wanted the same freedoms and privileges the men had in determining their leaders. I haven’t missed voting in an election since I turned 18 and I certainly do not plan on missing this one. I hope you will exercise your right to vote and help me honor the memories of Lucy Burns, Alice Paul and many others.
