Identify this White Beauty…

… cause I’m tired of trying to do it myself!

Our photo excursion this afternoon yielded this lovely creature, an old abandoned cotton gin and a sunflower or two. I’ll share the others later, these two are my favorite captures today.

White Butterfly or Moth?

Uncooperative Kittens

Filed under: Photos — DonnaB at 2:43 pm on Sunday, September 9, 2007

Well, the little cuties are four weeks old today and not a bit on the cooperative side when it comes to the camera. They were either piled on top of their mama or hiding their faces from the camera… except for the yellow one, he obviously thinks he’s a star!

Cuteness ahead….

Ugh!

“The challenge is to do an image that you can entitle Relax or Relaxation.”

I made everything with the exception of the cookies. The picnic basket and glass are both old creations, the rest of the image is new.

Beautiful Butty

I believe after researching tonight, this orange beauty is a Gulf Fritillary…. try to say that three times fast! We were on an animal checking round this afternoon when I spotted these lovely creatures.

Atmospheric Tease

It might have rained somewhere this afternoon, but it wasn’t here. Those clouds were ominous and I would have wagered big bucks on not being able to go for my evening walk. However, I walked, it only misted rain and the clouds have now disappeared. All in all a good day. I got some awesome photos and there were no excuses for not exercising.

Last post I talked about the kittens becoming more active and crawling about. Proof of that in the first photo below. What I didn’t tell you was the fact that three of the kittens are cute… this one? Not so much! I think it could use a makeover, an extreme makeover! I’ve never seen a kitten so homely. Keep your fingers crossed that changes or no one will ever want to adopt this poor thing! I’ll try to refrain from labeling them all as cute from here on out unless it’s the truth and nothing but the truth! :P

The Kittens at Three Weeks

Filed under: Photos — DonnaB at 8:39 pm on Sunday, September 2, 2007

You want to know the worst thing about having these kittens? Do you? Are you sure? It’s FLEAS!!!!!!! Oh my goodness! I knew they had a few, or so I thought… they were covered in the nasty things. I bombed the house today, sprayed the kittens to kill the fleas and then immediately bathed the flea spray off. Nothing is labeled for kittens this young, but I do know and have read where they will become anemic and could die if something isn’t done about the pests.

While the flea bombs were going off, I had Muffy and babies in a cage on the front porch. They stayed there for a few hours until the old house was aired out.

Just as I expected, at three weeks the babies are becoming more active and learning a little independence. Just check out how sweet they are now that they are debugged and crawling around.

Warning, cuteness ahead!

Grandma Teeth

I didn’t want to do the obvious and it took me all week to come up with something unique. Guess the ol’ brain cells finally connected! :D
