Saturday News

I’m still here! Of course I haven’t updated wordpress yet. I knew I wouldn’t make myself do it today anyway, but it was nice to think about it! :)

We ended up at the flea market in Tyler with our longtime friends. Had a great day just cause it was something different for a change. I bought a snow cone, I’m such a big spender!

Hope your day was as good as ours even though we were rear ended while stopped behind another vehicle who was stopped behind another one waiting on it to turn. Yes, my friends, we were sandwiched in between two big pickups. Thank God the guy wasn’t doing but about 30 m.p.h. when he hit us from behind and pushed us into the truck in front of us.

He said, “I’m sorry, I just crossed those railroad tracks and looked both ways there and didn’t realize y’all were stopped.”

Uh, next time… check in front of you first, k?

He was very nice, very apologetic, no one was hurt seriously other than his bumper. Our friend’s vehicle had a trailer hitch which saved their back bumper and did the damage to the guy’s grill and front bumper. Our friend’s front one was knocked a bit loose, but really no dings or damage to it. The gal in front of us had no damage at all.

I will admit we were all jolted quite a bit. Both the guys were in the front seat wearing their seat belts and caps on their heads. The impact was enough to knock their caps off their heads and into the back seats with us girls. Becky initially had a headache and we both discovered our spines and necks had taken a pretty good jarring.

I am happy to say tonight, we are all fine. My brother has been rear ended a couple of times and thought he was fine too… until the next morning. Keep your fingers crossed all of us are fine tomorrow too.

Updating Wordpress

If I disappear, not me silly… this blog, this is just a heads up to let you know I will be trying to update my blogging um… software, I guess it’s called. Anyway, it’s way past time, should have done it ages ago. You shouldn’t notice anything different, unless of course, I’m no where to be found. Wish me luck as I’m afraid I’m going to need it! I probably won’t start messing with things until later this weekend, because “after all, tomorrow is another day!” ;)

Week 250 continued

I played again last night with challenge 250. For those of you who wonder why I do this, let me explain. It’s fun interacting with fellow graphic enthusiasts from all walks of life and all parts of the world. Even though we will never meet in person, I’ve found we all have the same interests, the same joys and struggles in life. It is also very relaxing to get lost in a creation.

Enough of my babbling, here’s my second idea for the diving mask. Somebody definitely needs to shut it off!

It’s Challenge Week 250!

Susie aka Holder provided this diving mask for us to use with instructions to “do whatever we wanted with it as long as it was recognized in the final image”.

Challenge 250

I thought it needed to be made into an award. I’m not sure for what, but in honor of the challenger, it became “The Holder Award”.

Tuesday Chores

We moved cattle from one pasture to another today and let me tell you, it is a chore! First of all, have I mentioned summer has finally arrived? Oh yes, I believe I have! It was hot, it was scorching, moving them at anytime is something I had rather never have to do, but it is part of the process seeing as how the pasture they were moved from is more of a winter and early spring pasture. I am happy to say they were grinning when they saw all the lush, green, green grass they were about to nibble on and they were still grinning when I checked them before dark. I plan on NOT being in the hot sun tomorrow, but you just never know what will come up when you’re dealing with God’s critters! :)

p.s. Did you know cattle grinned? ;)

p.s.s. Aunt Mary went home today! :)

Summer has finally arrived!

And man was it ever hot today! I became very accustomed to the cooler temperatures of the last few months and yes, you could say I’m very fond of the AC.

Momma and I had a scare coming home from visiting my Aunt Mary (Mom’s sister) in the hospital. While heading west on the highway, my truck suddenly acted as if it had no transmission. That’s not good when the traffic behind you and coming towards you is going 70 m.p.h.! We intended to stop at the fruit stand and fortunately for us, we were right at it when the truck went cuckoo.

Come to find out after phoning the husband, he had engaged the 4-wheel-drive this morning and told me to check and make sure it hadn’t shifted into neutral. In our truck, there’s a separate control in the floorboard that you manually shift to engage it. Thank goodness, it had! That’s all that was wrong, but it was bizarre seeing as how we had already made several stops and there we were heading home when it acted up.

I was already envisioning the horrible things that were about to happen if the truck was broken and we had to wait in the heat for help to arrive. You know… serious things, like the milk ruining we had purchased at Braum’s or worse than that, the sweat pouring off my spoiled little brow! The terrible vision ended when I finally got it shifted back into gear, the cold air began cooling my increasingly wet brow and we were once again homeward bound!

Oh and Aunt Mary? Get Well Quick, that’s an order! :)

Another Challenge 249 Entry

Just had to use the sweet kitty photo, even though I just reported on the last post how devilish she’s become!

Scooter

If I owe you an email it’s because the calico kitten, now known as Scooter Libby cause she’s lucky too, refuses to let me use my computer. She’s even gone so far as to try to get rid of my mouse. I suppose she thinks if it’s just hanging around, I won’t bother using it. ;)

The Big 5-0

Yes, it’s true, I turned fifty on Friday the 13th! No problem though, it’s just another day and not the first time I’ve had a birthday on a Friday, nor will it be the last! Having the superstitious number as part of my life has made me NOT superstitious and that’s a good thing. And this birthday is a good thing. I wondered how I would reconcile the fact I was half a century and I’m handling it quite well, thank you very much. ;)

I got some lovely birthday cards, a meal at a great restaurant and best wishes for another 50. If I’m around in fifty more years, I’ll be sure and blog about how it feels to live that long. Right now, I may not look like a kid any longer, but I dang sure still feel like one and the husband could probably attest to the fact that I act like one at times too. Pouting and whining are two of my specialties. But, it’s all good, I’m STILL here and many people don’t get the chance to live this long, so I’ll accept the number and be thankful for it! :)

Challenge 249

Our instructions this week were to “Create a coat of arms for yourself, or for some other person or organization. Say who the arms are for, and explain what anything you put in the arms stands for or means.”

Ghost Creek Farm

And what I said about it: “The creek that runs through the homeplace where my husband grew up is Ghost Creek. Years ago, my now deceased father-in-law had registered cattle and named the place Ghost Creek Farm to use on the paperwork. The cow is a doctored photo of mine, the skull is a tube from Jane Braz.”
