These are rather good looking creatures as turtles go. They’re called sliders cause of their ability to quickly slide into the water to hide. The red part is obvious if you look behind their eyes.

And this one? It’s rather ugly, almost prehistoric looking, but don’t be fooled by the fact it looks harmless. Snapping turtles will take a finger off in a heartbeat! I guess the warm rocks felt good since it never moved while both the husband and I were taking photos.
