I Love Birds and I Cannot Lie!

Yesterday, we were around the corner at our long time friend’s home when we spotted Yellow- headed Blackbirds. You ever seen them? We had spotted some two years ago for the first time. They are magnificent birds!

Today, while visiting with my sister-in-law outside in my swing, we saw our first hummingbird. I quickly filled my feeders and got them hung for the little jewels.

Then late this evening the hubby and I were outdoors here at the house when he spotted some unusual looking birds in the top of one of our pecan trees. There were probably 8 or 10 and we could see they had yellow breasts. Although goldfinches spend time at our feeders in the winter, it is much too late in the year for them to still be here and these birds looked too large for finches. After getting a better look with binoculars, I realized they were Cedar Waxwings. It was a treat to see them as I had only seen photos online or in bird identification books.

Both the Yellow-headed Blackbird and the Cedar Waxwing are migrating birds and were merely resting for their journey north. I got a couple of photos, but they are not very good. Even without pictures to share, it was still a fantastic day!

Whew!

Thank you voters, I don’t have to give up watching American Idol! Sanjaya is history tonight and I couldn’t be more pleased. I think he’s personable and a real cute kid, but a knock my socks off singer? Not!

For the record… Jordin is still my fave of the remaining contestants. She made me cry last night singing Martina’s “Broken Wing” and I cry every time I hear Martina singing “Anyway”. It moves me and it’s good… it’s real good! :)

Symptom Search

Recently, the husband was experiencing severe foot pain and went searching on the web for answers. I don’t know that he actually used this site, but if he didn’t he certainly could have. It’s an awesome resource and will help you determine if medical intervention is necessary.

Hubby decided he has plantar fasciitis with his research and has treated it by adding shoe inserts to all of his footwear and taking anti-inflammatory drugs. I’m happy to report his feet have greatly improved!

Question for you: Does having all this information at our fingertips make us foolish for not seeking medical attention to determine exactly what is happening with our bodies?

I’ll let you make up your own mind, but for me, it gives me reassurance to have these answers available.

In the Pink…

as in a pink landscape. I don’t know, I was just playing with a not-so-good photo and actually like these colors. Yeah, it’s weird, what of it? :)

A Bit of Fun

via Lynne….

If I were an M & M, this is what I would look like…. flip-flops, purple eyeshadow, a little sunburned and my camera swinging from my neck!

Floral Delight

My Aunt Mary gave me the start of these beauties about three years ago. She’s told me more than once the name of this iris, but for the life of me, I can’t remember now. I do know one thing though… they are gorgeous!

Plus Passion Perfume… new graphic image

I am the challenger this week at Plus PSP. I decided to try to create a perfume bottle and was somewhat successful. I’m not crazy about the perspective of my box, but it will do… especially since I’m not getting paid to do this stuff… it’s just for fun! ;)

This is the object I provided with instructions that it must be recognizable in the final image although you could distort, rotate, resize or colorize it.

Scissor-tailed Flycatcher

I hate it that I missed getting the long “scissor-tail” in these photos. I was hurriedly snapping away cause I thought it would fly at any moment. I still like the shots though!
