I Love Birds and I Cannot Lie!

Yesterday, we were around the corner at our long time friend’s home when we spotted Yellow- headed Blackbirds. You ever seen them? We had spotted some two years ago for the first time. They are magnificent birds!

Today, while visiting with my sister-in-law outside in my swing, we saw our first hummingbird. I quickly filled my feeders and got them hung for the little jewels.

Then late this evening the hubby and I were outdoors here at the house when he spotted some unusual looking birds in the top of one of our pecan trees. There were probably 8 or 10 and we could see they had yellow breasts. Although goldfinches spend time at our feeders in the winter, it is much too late in the year for them to still be here and these birds looked too large for finches. After getting a better look with binoculars, I realized they were Cedar Waxwings. It was a treat to see them as I had only seen photos online or in bird identification books.

Both the Yellow-headed Blackbird and the Cedar Waxwing are migrating birds and were merely resting for their journey north. I got a couple of photos, but they are not very good. Even without pictures to share, it was still a fantastic day!
