Did I mention we have dogs?

And lots of them? Well, we do! Old news to some of you, but for the rest of the gang, here’s another dog we adopted. Actually, we sorta, kinda stole him! We had no idea his former family that lives up the street had left for the Christmas holidays in 2005. We truthfully thought they had moved off and left him. When he came visiting and was hungry, being the suckers we both are, we fed him. You know what happened after that… he stayed!

Much to our surprise, his previous owners came home after THREE WEEKS! He still visits with them, but for the most part, he hangs here and around the corner at our friend’s home. The husband loves this dog. He looks intelligent, but you know what they say, “Looks can be deceiving!” He’s been hit by cars three times that we know of. You would think he would stay out of the road or quit chasing vehicles, but on no, not him! He must be part cat and if my calculations are correct, he’s got six lives left!

I’ll eventually get around to posting pictures of all the dogs. For the record, and we all know I like to keep records, it will take a while… as already mentioned, we have lots of them!

This is R.D. aka red dog even though he’s yellow!

One Year Ago

I jumped on the blogging bandwagon one year ago today. I knew it would be an easy way to add new content to my web site. I haven’t set the world on fire, but I’ve had fun and enjoyed learning in the process. Thanks for checking in now and again and to those of you that have left comments, thank you, thank you very much!

Doggie Tooth Care, Establishing Good Habits

I know, it’s a stretch… it’s more silliness, but hey, it makes me happy!

He’s the daddy of Bo, Luke and Daisy below. He’s kind of a showoff and he’s also very silly… go look!

Have you joined the Sudoku craze?

If I’m bored, or really what that translates to is, if I’m feeling lazy with no direction in surfing or any productive activity, I’ve been known to play Sudoku online. Go! Hurry! It’s free!

Thanks for the new obsession, Margaret! ;)

The latest adopted dog

On Abandonment
by Kathie Flood

A dog sits waiting
in the hot midday sun;
too faithful to leave,
too frightened to run.
He’s been there for days now
with nothing to do
but sit by the road
just waiting for you.
He can’t understand
why you left him that day.
He thought you were stopping
to take him to play.
He’s sure you’ll come back
and that’s why he stays.
How long can he suffer?
How many more days?
His legs have grown weak,
his throat’s parched and dry.
He’s sick now from hunger;
he falls with a sigh.
He lays down his head
and closes his eyes.
I wish you could see
how a waiting dog dies.

Banjo was abandoned in our neighborhood a month ago. We’ve been feeding him ever since and are just now able to touch him. Why do people do that? It’s a very cruel act and one I cannot forgive. Fortunately for this guy, he picked the right home to find a meal.
