Coonie Kitty

Filed under: Photos — DonnaB at 9:23 pm on Thursday, February 8, 2007

Coonie, so named cause my hubby thought she sounded like a raccoon when she purred, is not well. We’re waiting on blood tests to determine if she has feline leukemia and should know the results tomorrow. More when I know more….

Updated 2/9/07: No word yet on the blood tests.

Updated 2/12/07: NOT FELINE LEUKEMIA! Kidney problems were ruled out, some of the things they check for in the blood were on the high side of normal, but neither one of the things the doc thought might be wrong were found. Tape worm is another possibility and she was treated for that last week. I’m to continue giving her daily vitamins, re-worm her in two weeks and see what happens. Her severe weight loss is a mystery right now!

Bandit hasn’t forgotten her ordeal for she is quick to return to the pen, but she is smiling and happy again! :)

I’m not sure of the species of sparrow, perhaps Savannah? It posed so pretty for me, I thought I would share.

Hunting?

I beg to differ! There’s a hunting ranch not too far from us with 640 acres enclosed by a very high fence. They, of course, charge “big game hunters” to… what? Boost their egos by killing an animal that can’t get away? Whatever!

I like blue eyes and I cannot lie!

Blue-eyed Horse and a Pal

Now isn’t that a pretty eye? You can’t see that it’s blue? Clicking on the photo will take you to my Flickr page where you can choose to see all sizes of the picture. Click the large version and the blue eye is more easily seen. :)

A couple of pals that share the pasture with the Highland cow. Amazing what you can find when you least expect it!

A Highland Surprise

The husband and I were on another photo outing this afternoon and were pleasantly surprised to find this lovely(?) cow. We were actually shocked to see this breed in our part of the country. The Highland Cattle Breed originated in Scotland and were imported to the U.S. in the late 1800’s. Oklahoma State University has more information if you are interested. I had no idea they could survive southern summers with their long, hairy coats. Very unusual looking critters and certainly nothing like we are used to seeing.

Hurry spring, I don’t care for the white stuff!

Yeah, it snowed today and actually accumulated. Yeehaw… NOT! I’m ready for spring, I do not like cold weather. I do not like gloomy, cloudy days. I seriously do not like snow!

That is all…
