I beg to differ! There’s a hunting ranch not too far from us with 640 acres enclosed by a very high fence. They, of course, charge “big game hunters” to… what? Boost their egos by killing an animal that can’t get away? Whatever!
You can drive the perimeter of the property and actually spot an animal or two occasionally. Today, we could see deer, but they were at a distance our cameras couldn’t reach. We did manage to take pictures of Black Buck Antelope. The Pheasant had escaped the enclosure and was on the opposite side of the road. Neither the antelope or the pheasant are native to our area.

I am married to a hunter (although he had rather hunt with his camera now) so it’s not as if I’ve never been exposed to men and their testosterone driven sports. At least when he hunts, the animal has a fighting chance in the open country. These animals have no opportunity to escape. At least the birds can fly away.
Yes, I’m sure the owners will tell you there are woods and brush and different places to hide, but really, 640 acres is not that big when you’re running from a nut with a rifle!
The “trophies” available to pay to kill are elk, white-tail deer, fallow and axis deer, black buck antelope and auidad. Bird hunting is also advertised with dove, quail, chukar and pheasant as the prey. They also list hog hunting as a recreation too. White-tail deer, doves, quail and wild hogs are the only animals listed that are native to this area.
I’m not going to name this place, I do not want to do any advertising for them. I just wanted to rant (cause I’m good at it) and share a couple of pictures with you.
