I had a wonderful day yesterday! I was surprised with the kids I keep sitting on the porch steps with their Momma holding a big birthday poster wishing me a “Happy Birthday”! They gave me two awesome musical cards with a gift certificate, a yummy chocolate cake and birthday plates for the kids and I to celebrate with. And we certainly did that right after lunch. Sweet girl sang the birthday song to me while little man bebopped to the music in his high chair and we had a grand time. There’s just nothing like having little ones in your life to brighten your days and having their Mom plan something for us to celebrate my special day with them was a real bonus!
I also received beautiful cards from my husband, my Mom and my Aunt Mary, emails, a phone call from a wonderful friend and many messages on Facebook. I just thought this one wasn’t going to be anything special… I was wrong!
I spent a little money and a bit of time for a good cause tonight. There are five people battling cancer in my favorite small town; and Roxton is representative of “small town America”. It is a huge blessing to me to know so many who freely give their hearts and their hard earned money to help their friends and neighbors in need. I am saddened for the reason to participate tonight, but also have a full heart. The fundraiser was a great success and I know those five families appreciate the prayers and the giving spirit of those attending.
I am a tech savvy gal, but still amazed at what all I can do from my cell phone. Love the ability to play on Facebook, send emails, text messages, take photos and share them numerous ways, download applications to play games or even edit the pictures taken with my phone right on my phone. The list goes on and on, but now… NOW, I can even post to my blog with my phone! How awesome is that?
Click the “FS” button for full screen, “SL” to start the slideshow, or navigate with the thumbnails or the arrow keys. If you see an “i” in the upper right corner, there is information attached to the photo, click to read. When you’re through viewing my beautiful family, hit your escape key to exit. Thanks again to my wonderful friend for telling me about this particular plugin. It is awesome!
You know, that engine that runs this here blog? I should have updated to this latest version of WordPress a long time ago. There are so many widgets and plugins to wade through, I literally can’t stop playing with them. I’ve installed and uninstalled several tonight just to see what they do. Wondering what I’m going on and on about? Things like that neat viewing feature when you click on the graphic I shared a post or two ago. I’ve said this before and I will definitely say it again and again; I am very happy I live in this age of fast paced technology and have a little bit of my mind left to understand some of it!
As Edward “Ed” and I sat waiting for the fireworks to begin the other night, I mentioned to him how the fourth festivities and this time of year was always exciting and important to me when I was a kid. And the reason? Once the fourth of July had passed, it was just a few days until my birthday. Funny how time passes and the older you get those same feelings from childhood have long faded. Never fear, I’m thankful I’m healthy and happy and most importantly, still here to enjoy my birthday, but it certainly doesn’t cause the excitement for me as it once did. Those were good times back then, no real worries and reminiscing the other night was good; still smiling in fact, as I sit here typing this tonight.
Welcome to my newest blog. Without going into too much detail, I had not updated my old wordpress files in YEARS! It was so old it couldn’t be updated and I wanted the latest version available. I was also such a newb at this stuff, I had no idea what I was doing when I started the blog anyway. No doubt some would argue that rings true today as well! So, without further ado, here is a continuation of my “random stuff” in “even more randomness”.
