Down the Road

People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness. Just because they’re not on your road doesn’t mean they’ve gotten lost. ~H. Jackson Brown

As you’ve noticed, I dearly love “going down the road” with my camera in tow, my senses on high alert as I’m not only watching where I’m going, I’m looking, constantly scanning in all directions for a reason to stop, aim and press my shutter. It is the most relaxing and rewarding activity I’ve ever had the pleasure of participating in.

Others wonder and have asked, “Why?” I can only reply because it makes me happy. I find something beautiful or interesting in every photo I capture. It can be the simplicity of light as it is filtered through the trees. Or many times, as you’ve seen, it is God’s creatures I spot and capture that cause the most excitement.

My only regret is I didn’t discover this hobby many years ago. Oh, I took photos of kids, Christmas gatherings and more, but never really understood and appreciated what I was capturing until I bought my first DSLR. Even in auto modes, I saw how much better photos could be and I was determined to learn more and why.

I’m happy to say six years after that initial purchase and on my second DSLR, I finally understand the exposure triangle, I’m still learning and most definitely enjoying this obsession.

I would say there’s many years of playing and sharing to come and that too makes me happy.
