Have you heard of GiMP? It’s a free, open source program for editing photos or creating graphic images. I had known about its existence for quite a while, but you know I’ve spent most of my time learning Paint Shop Pro and once I accomplished that, I really never thought of any other editing software other than a dabble in Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. I also more recently downloaded a trial of Lightroom to see what the fuss was about, but in the end, I’ve stuck with what I know best, until now!
I downloaded Gimp a few weeks ago and briefly looked at it. After saying to our photo club members how it is styled like Photoshop or my PSP I love so much, I also offered to help anyone wanting to learn it which meant I needed to spend more time playing with it myself. My free time at night lately has involved reading many tutorials online. Let me tell you, I had no idea, not one that I could have saved my money all these years and used a free program and a powerful one at that! Our class instructor is planning on having a post processing seminar where she will demonstrate what Aperture will do and then both of us will introduce Gimp’s capabilites. I’m impressed and looking forward to sharing! I won’t be trading in my favorite program, but now anytime anyone asks me for my opinion on what to buy, I’m going to recommend they get their feet wet with Gimp and in fact, I might even tell them to save their money altogether and stick with the program. Stay tuned!

Ooops, you have to moderate my previous comment, I had a typo…does that ever happen to you?
Typos? Oh yeah! Gimp is good, Sheri, for free!! It is a little more learning curve than what I wanted, but the learning is how to set the background and tools like I want. The actual processes are much the same as what we are used to.
Watching Bball and downloading this program (with help download as well!) as I type. Happy playing!
