I learned a new term and a bit of helpful information tonight. No, seriously, I did!
We’ve been online since late 1996 or early 1997, we can’t decide now, but no matter, it’s been a long, long time! When we first started out with emails, surfing the web and joining sites, we never knew or thought in 13 plus years we might be changing email addresses a few times because we changed ISP’s (Internet Service Providers). Well, actually, its only been three times, but each time we were furnished with email addresses with each provider and of course, went with it. With each change, you spend hours going through the sites you have accounts with and updating your contact information. After that third time and knowing Google had the awesome web based Gmail accounts, I got one! Now if we ever change our provider again, I’ll still have the same gmail address and won’t be pulling my hair out changing my address on all those sites again. And yes, for those of you with my last ISP address, it is still active and some of you still use it.
Now with all that babble out of the way, let’s get back to the title of this post. I subscribe to posts at Plus PSP, my graphics-playing-stomping-grounds, and I have filtered the emails from them within my email client, but only tonight did I learn I could actually set up as many email accounts with my one gmail address as I want with plus addressing. Did you know this? Here, go read, this feature and creating a filter is simply explained.
I’ve only scratched the surface of what gmail can do for me. I highly recommend it and the very best part is it is free!
