My family and friends know we are animal lovers around here. In fact, so much so that it is embarrassing to admit how many adopted dogs and cats we’ve had through the years. Another fact; I finally quit mentioning them as they came into our lives for fear of people thinking we were absolutely, certifiably nuts! However, it is high time I introduced this sweet boy. Meet Hershey Bigfoot Boykin.
He has been a wonderful addition to our lives the last couple of years and is good-natured as all Labs are. He doesn’t possess a couple of traits specific to the breed though and more than likely the reason he was found south of town walking down the middle of the highway. He has no tolerance for the sound of gunshots, fireworks or thunder for that matter. Hershey becomes very frightened and needs constant assurance everything in his world will be okay. He also does not like water and I have no doubts his previous owner wanted a hunting dog that likes to swim in order to retrieve. It was a good day for us when Ed stopped, opened the door and Hersh jumped in for we have been blessed with his company alone; working skills are not required here!
